How the Idea of Forming DUWA Started
- Our beloved philanthropist Haji. K.M. Mohamed Ali (Mana Moona) was deeply concerned about the future of young women and their access to quality education. Years ago, he initiated discussions and formed a group with like-minded individuals to establish a women's college in Dindigul. Despite his efforts, various obstacles and financial challenges forced the idea to be put on hold.
- Determined to make a difference, he later engaged the Dindigul Economic Chamber (DEC) - Education Wing and United Ikiiya Jamath Peravai to form a dedicated team. On December 20, 2024, a meeting was held at the Tannery Association Building, Dindigul, where 22 philanthropists and educationists gathered to discuss this noble cause. However, the lack of available land and the need for significant funding (approximately 7-8 crores) made it difficult to proceed at that time.
- Now, with renewed determination and support from the community, we are establishing Dindigul United Women's Academy (DUWA) to fulfill this long-awaited dream.

Why Does Dindigul Need a Women’s College
- A recent survey conducted by the Dindigul Economic Chamber (DEC) in 2024 revealed that approximately 500-600 girls from Dindigul district are currently studying in co-education colleges or other minority institutions in and around the city. However, there is no single unified platform where these students can pursue both Islamic and academic studies in a secure and culturally aligned environment.
- Many parents are concerned about their daughters' safety, security, and exposure to external influences, making them hesitant to send them to faraway colleges.

Challenges Faced by Parents in Educating Their Daughters
- Cultural Concerns – Parents worry about their daughters adopting non-Islamic lifestyles, such as neglecting hijab, mixing with boys, and being influenced by social media distractions.
- Fear of Misguidance – Many girls are misled into inappropriate relationships or habits that contradict Islamic teachings.
- Social Pressure – Due to community expectations, many families prefer to keep their daughters at home until marriage rather than send them to co-educational institutions.
- Lack of Local Options – With no dedicated women’s college in Dindigul, parents feel compelled to either compromise on education or send their daughters far from home.
Our Solution: Dindigul United Women’s Academy (DUWA)
DUWA will provide a safe, secure, and value-driven educational environment where young women can pursue both Islamic and academic studies. We have partnered with K.P. National College of Arts and Science, Batlagundu, ensuring official academic recognition. Students will attend our Dindigul campus for daily classes and only visit KPN College for semester exams.

College Fee
At DUWA the full fee must be paid at the time of admission. Fee concessions will be given to women who are eligible for Zakat.
